To bring the personal protective equipment to the market of Ukraine the last shall be subject to conformity assessment of technical regulations of personal protective equipment, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on August 27, 2008 N 761. This technical regulation is harmonized with Council Directive 89/686/EEC of December 21, 1989 on the approximation of the legislation of the member states concerning personal protective equipment.
However, currently in the European Union there is a new regulation on personal protective equipment - REGULATION (EU) 2016/425 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 9 March 2016 on personal protective equipment and repealing Council Directive 89/686/EEC.
In Ukraine a new technical regulation on personal protective equipment approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on August 21, 2019 № 771, harmonized with the above-mentioned EU Regulation. However, it will not come into force until August 30, 2021.
Personal protective equipment is equipment designed to be worn by the user and/or to provide protection against one or more types of threat to life and health.
By category, all personal protective equipment is divided into three categories: first, second and third. The technical regulations specify which personal protective equipment belongs to which category.
Depending on the category, personal protective equipment is subject to conformity assessment using those conformity assessment modules that are necessary and sufficient for that category.
