The New Approach to technical harmonization was adopted by the Council of Europe in 1985. Later, namely in 1989, the Council of Europe adopted the Global Approach. This decision significantly expanded the scope of removing technical barriers to trade on the EU market.
The products that are subject to the directives should contain CE marking. The products with CE marking are not restricted in any way when placed on the EU market.
